Sports and Recreation
Elmira has a number of local teams to keep the sports enthusiast busy year round. During the winter, the Elmira Jackals hockey team, a United Hockey League member that calls First Arena home, has an avid fan base in the area. If college sports are your passion, the Elmira College Soaring Eagles offer numerous NCAA Division III spectator sports, and nearby Mansfield University offers Division II excitement, including Mountaineer football in the fall. During the spring and summer months you can catch the Elmira Pioneers professional baseball team at historic Dunn Field.
