The Annual Fund provides critical operating and programmatic support for Arnot Health’s life-changing work and enables the Foundation to respond to the healthcare system’s immediate needs
Late last spring while enjoying early morning walks with his yellow lab, Daisy, Jack Coxall would become short of breath. He and his wife, Maggie, took careful notice since he always enjoyed a clean bill of health. Concerned and anxious, Jack came to Arnot Health for an urgent appointment with his primary care physician, Dr. Nadanaguru Akila, who ordered a complete set of cardiac tests.
After swiftly moving from test to test, the results showed life-threatening blockage in five arteries that fed into Jack’s heart. With spiraling emotions, Jack faced more unanticipated testing and looming major surgery.
Soon after their initial visit, Dr. Darryl Hoffman, a cardiothoracic surgeon, performed a successful quintuple-bypass surgery to avoid a fatal heart attack. Afterwards, Jack’s oxygen levels were restored and he was able to take a deep breath of gratitude.
Even though he confronted this health scare, Jack recalled that his Arnot Health experience was a positive one. His questions were answered in understandable language and the employees who he and his wife encountered were all compassionate; from the housekeeping and dietary staff, to the radiologists, and the physicians and nurses in the ICU and on unit 5D at Arnot Ogden Medical Center. Every touch point they experienced contributed to Jack’s speedy recovery.
On that scary day back in June, Jack and Maggie’s future was in your hands; the hands of our community partners. Jack not only received quick access to the equipment he needed for his testing and surgery, but he also had a comforting place to heal as he was surrounded by a caring staff. Your commitment to Arnot Health allows patients like Jack to look forward to walking his dog on those warm spring days again.
Please consider a gift to the
