Adult Diabetes Class Series Will Begin May 10

Arnot Health is offering a series of educational classes for adults with diabetes, scheduled to begin Thursday, May 10. Participants should attend all four classes (scheduled weekly) in the series. A physician referral is required. Attendees’ insurance provider will be billed for enrollment costs.

 

Class meetings are from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Horseheads Medical Office Building, 100 John Roemmelt Drive, Horseheads. Interested individuals with a physician referral should call Endocrinology and Diabetes to register at 607-795-2820.

 

The class teaches participants how to live with diabetes. Topics covered include food, nutrition and meal planning, physical activity, blood glucose monitoring, medications, problem solving, risk reduction and goal setting. The classes are taught by a registered nurse and registered dietitian.

 

Arnot Health provides diagnostic, ambulatory, secondary and tertiary acute care, as well as rehabilitative and wellness services to the Southern Tier of New York and the Northern Tier of Pennsylvania. The three-hospital regional healthcare system, an independent, not-for-profit organization, has a total of 809 licensed beds, including 493 acute care, 231 long term care, 40 physical medicine rehabilitation, 25 psychiatric, and 20 substance abuse rehabilitation. The system currently has more than 300 physicians from 50+ specialties.
