Arnot Ogden Medical Center Foundation Supports Graduate Medical EducationThursday, April 18, 2013
ELMIRA, NY - The Arnot Ogden Medical Center Foundation presented a check for $183,983 to Arnot Ogden Medical Center in support of the Graduate Medical Education Program and new Residency Programs at its annual meeting on April 18. The programs were the designated beneficiaries of the Foundation’s 2012 Annual Appeal.
“The Graduate Medical Education Program is off to a strong start at Arnot Health,” said Program Director Richard Terry, DO, MBA, FAAFP, FACOFP. “We are looking forward to the addition of the Osteopathic Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, and General Surgery Residency Programs and an Osteopathic Rotating Internship this year. The funding provided by the Arnot Ogden Medical Center Foundation will be used to support upgrades to our facilities and IT infrastructure and to install a conferencing system in preparation for our program expansion.”
Arnot Health’s Graduate Medical Education Program is composed of the following:
- Arnot Health offers Osteopathic Residency and Internship Programs for physicians who are graduates of colleges of osteopathic medicine accredited by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) and who have successfully passed NBOME COMLEX Boards Parts I and II.
- In affiliation with Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, Arnot Health serves as a teaching site for third and fourth year medical students providing hands-on training and direct mentorship from highly skilled and experienced providers at Arnot Health facilities.
Arnot Health’s Osteopathic Residency and Internship Programs, set to launch in summer 2013, boast an inaugural class of twenty-six post-graduate, osteopathic physicians in training from across the country. These residents will participate in multi-year programs primarily operating at Arnot Ogden Medical Center. In addition, a new cohort of medical students will continue their training in affiliation with Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. This program, now in its second year, will host fifty-two participating third and fourth year medical students.
