Psychiatric Care and Mental Health Services
Arnot Health provides quality, compassionate care for those in crisis in our community. Our in-patient treatment center is the region’s referral center for adults who feel like doing harm to themselves or to others as a result of depression, substance abuse or other mental health conditions. Our intense treatment program requires a short stay (6-14 days) at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Elmira.
Who We Are
Our professional staff of psychiatrists, social workers, psychiatric nurses, and counselors work together as a team to bring relief. We assess the nature of the crisis and tailor an effective treatment plan to stabilize your condition. Each patient has a case manager to work to ensure continuity of care and a connection to the community for your recovery.
How We Help
Patients actively participate in a range of individual and group therapy activities to prepare to return to community life. We help you develop the skills you need to cope with stressful situations, including:

To assist with your transition back into the community, we connect you with medical doctors, counseling services, and housing, when needed. Arnot Health also offers Addiction Treatment

Why Arnot Health?
Arnot Health is certified by the Office of Mental Health, New York State Health Department, to provide crisis mental health services in a private, limited-access unit of St. Joseph’s Hospital. Our staff members abide by high professional standards of confidentiality, and if patients prefer, we will not acknowledge their presence on our unit to any outside callers.
