Arnot Health Enacting Visitor RestrictionsThursday, December 12, 2019
Due to influenza activity being widespread in New York State, Arnot Health has enacted visitor restrictions at Arnot Ogden Medical Center and St. Joseph's Hospital in Elmira, as well as Ira Davenport Memorial Hospital in Bath. To protect our patients and provide a safe environment for healing, Arnot Health closely monitors local flu activity. Whenever flu is widespread, we must place restrictions on the number and type of visitors allowed in our patient areas.
At this time, the following visitor restrictions are in effect:
- No one under the age of 14 may visit the hospital;
- No more than (2) visitors plus (1) designated caregiver/support person per patient may be present in patient rooms at any time; and
- Visitors with a fever, cough, body aches, or a sore throat- or those who have had contact with anyone with those symptoms within the past four days- will be asked to postpone their visit until they have been symptom-free for 24 hours.
Visitor restrictions are not unusual, and are occasionally necessary to limit exposure to outside contaminants and allow patients on our units to regain their health. We understand that these temporary visitor restrictions may be inconvenient, and we will remove them when influenza is no longer widespread in our area.
Thank you for your consideration and commitment to the health and well-being of our patients.
Anyone with questions about how to care for flu-like illness at home or if/when you should seek medical care is invited to call Arnot Health's Health on Demand call center at 607-737-4499 for more information.
