Centralus Health is proud to announce significant patient safety milestones across its system, with both Arnot Health and Cayuga Health reaching remarkable benchmarks in infection prevention and quality care.
Cayuga Medical Center has achieved 1,500 consecutive days with a Central-Line Associated Bloodstream Infection (CLABSI) -- an extraordinary milestone that builds on its previously recognized 1,000-day achievement, reflecting a sustained commitment to best-in-class infection prevention practices. A CLABSI is one of the most serious healthcare-associated infections, with the potential to cause life-threatening complications such as sepsis, making long-term prevention a critical indicator of patient safety and clinical excellence.
Arnot Ogden Medical Center has also reached an important milestone, achieving 450 consecutive days with a Catheter-Associated Urinary Tract Infection (CAUTI). CAUTIs are among the most common, and most preventable, hospital-acquired infections, and reducing these events helps minimize complications, shorten hospital stays, and improve overall patient outcomes.
"These achievements reflect the dedication and vigilance of our care teams across Centralus Health," said Angela Murray, Senior Director of Quality Outcomes and Chief Quality Officer for Centralus Health. "Reaching 1,500 days CLABSI-free and 450 days CAUTI-free is an incredible accomplishment, and a powerful example of what is possible when we prioritize safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement to protect our patients from preventable harm."
