The third-dose supplemental vaccines and the Pfizer, Moderna and Janssen (J&J) boosters are also available for those who are qualified. Currently, the CDC is recommending that moderately to severely immunocompromised people receive an additional dose no earlier than 28 days after their second dose of Pfizer or Moderna. (There has not yet been a decision regarding the J&J vacine) This includes people who have:
- Been receiving active cancer treatment for tumors or cancer of the blood
- Received an organ transplant and are taking medication to suppress the immune system
- Received a stem cell transplant within the last two years or are taking medication to suppress the immune system
- Moderate to severe primary immunodeficiency (such as DiGeroge syndrome or Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome)
- Advanced or untreated HIV infection
- Advanced treatment with high-dose corticosteroids, or other drugs that may suppress your immune system
IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU SPEAK WITH YOUR HEALTHCARE PROVIDER ABOUT YOUR ELIGIBILITY AND THE TIMING OF A THIRD DOSE OR BOOSTER DOSE OF VACCINE.
Registration for these clinics is on a first-come, first-served basis for anyone age 12 or older. Appointments can also be made by calling 1-800-952-2662. Please note, only the Pfizer vaccine is approved for use in people ages 12 to 17. Recipients must bring proof of age to the clinic to be able to receive the vaccine. Minors under the age of 18 must also be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
