Positron Emission Tomography (PET) helps physicians detect cancer at the earliest stages of development at the cellular level. A tracer element is introduced to the bloodstream before the patient travels comfortably through the PET scanner. With PET, physicians can develop a more complete picture about the extent of existing cancer even cancer that was never visible before.
