Bariatric Surgery Informational Seminar - 5/24 & 5/25Tuesday, May 1, 2018
Arnot Health invites individuals interested in Bariatric Surgery to attend a free seminar on Thursday, May 24, 2018 from 5:00–6:00 p.m. at LOCATION or Ira Davenport Memorial Hospital in the Ruth Cole Room or Friday, May 25, 2018 from 12:00–12:45 p.m. at Arnot Ogden Medical Center in the Petrie Conference Room. No registration necessary. All are welcome.
Subramanian Sadhasivam, MD, general and bariatric surgeon with Arnot Health, will present information about the procedures available, which are performed on the stomach and/or intestines to help a person lose weight, thereby reducing the person’s risk of other health issues.
Attendees will also learn about:
- eligibility for bariatric surgery
- how to prepare
- how to pay for these life-changing procedures.
Unlike many weight loss programs or diets, most patients who undergo bariatric surgery lose 40 to 70 percent of their excess weight. They are able to keep it off long-term if they commit to lifelong behavioral changes. Changing habits in areas such as nutrition, exercise, and stress management are essential to a healthy lifestyle and keeping weight off.
