How do I apply for Community Care?
Applications are available on the website, at all Hospital's AMS Physician Office registration areas, and at the Emergency Rooms registration desk. You can also call customer service or the Financial Assistance office at 607-737-7777 and an application will be mailed to you.
How will I know if I was approved for the discount?
Arnot Health will send you a letter within 30 days after completion and submission of all requested documentation, telling you if you have been approved and the level of discount received.
What if I still have a balance after the discount is applied?
If you have a self-pay balance, Arnot Health offers a payment plan to all patients.
What services are covered?
Medically Necessary Services as defined by Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Services 6 months prior to application are eligible for the discount and will apply to future services for 6 months.
What do I need to apply for a discount?
A completed application, wage/income statements (pay stubs), Social Security, pension statements, proof of residency, documentation of other income and assets. You may be asked for other supporting documentation after application is processed.
What if I receive a bill while I'm waiting to hear if I am approved?
You cannot be required to pay a hospital or physician bill while your application is being processed.
What if I disagree with the decision?
You can ask for your application to be reviewed again and if you still disagree you may call New York State Department of Health complaint hotline at 1-800-804-5447.
Can someone assist me in obtaining insurance coverage?
Arnot Health has Certified Application Counselors who can assist patients in navigating the NY State of Health Marketplace. You can call 607-271-3827 for an appointment.
